  • Author's Pre-print: author can archive pre-print (ie pre-refereeing)
  • Author's Post-print: author can archive post-print (ie final draft post-refereeing)

Copyright & Self-Archiving Policy

The submitting/corresponding author will need to fill in and sign the Copyright Transfer Statement for the journal and return it to the publisher.

Copyright Transfer

The copyright to an article is transferred to S. Hirzel Verlag/EAA (for US Government employees: to the extent transferable), effective if and when the article is accepted for publication. The submitting/corresponding author warrants

  • that his/her contribution is original;
  • that it has not been published before and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; a manuscript (pre-print) previously posted on a non-commercial pre-print server can be submitted as an  original article.
  • that it does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or patent rights, and
  • that if the contribution includes material of others, the author(s) has/have obtained the permission of the copyright owners in all such materials to enable them to grant the rights contained herein. Copies of all such permissions are attached to the original submission and the usual credit lines are given in the article. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the author(s).
  • that nothing in the contribution is obscene or libellous.
  • that he/she has full power to make this grant.

The submitting/corresponding author signs for and accepts all responsibilities for releasing this material on behalf of any and all co-authors and declares that any or all co-authors have been informed of the submission.

The copyright transfer covers the exclusive right and licence to reproduce, publish, republish, reprint, transmit, distribute, display and archive and otherwise use the article in whole or in part throughout the world in all forms and media of expression now or hereafter known, including reprints, translations, photographic reproductions, microform, electronic form (offline, online), or any other reproductions of similar nature, and to transfer the rights granted onto any third party.

Authors retain the following rights

  • All proprietary rights other than copyright, such as patent rights.
  • The right to use their published article in their own teaching and generally within their institution for educational purposes provided these copies are not offered for sale.
  • The right to make copies and distribute copies of their published paper to research colleagues for personal scholarly use by such colleagues.
  • The right to use all or part of this article in future publications of their own such as dissertations and postdoctoral qualifications provided the usual source of reference is given to the original publication.
  • The right to self-archive or deposit the accepted version of the author-prepared manuscript following peer-review (author’s post-print version) - before copyediting, typesetting and proofing by the publisher - on his/her own personal website immediately after the article was first published, and 12 months after publication on his/her institution’s repository for scholarly purposes and/or on his/her funder’s (designated) repository. Pre-prints previously posted on a non-commercial pre-print server can remain on these servers and can be updated with the author’s post-print version 12 months after publication. The final published journal article may not be used for any of the above purposes. The archived/deposited version must contain the following information: “The archived file is not the final published version of the article”, followed by (i) full citation: Author(s), Title, in: “Acta Acustica united with Acustica”, volume, year, page number, (ii) copyright notice: © (Year) S. Hirzel Verlag/European Acoustics Association, (iii) “The definitive publisher-authenticated version is available online at http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/dav/aaua”, (iv) a link to the Digital Object Identifier http//dx.doi.org/(DOI of the Article without brackets), and (iv) a statement that readers must contact the publisher for reprint or permission to use the material in any form.

If the manuscript will for any reason not be accepted for publication the agreement shall terminate, and neither the author(s) nor the publisher shall be under any further liability of obligation.
